So, here's how it works:

1. Open your library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, etc).
2. Put it on shuffle.
3. Press play.
4. For every question type the song that's playing.
5. When you go to a new question press the next button.
Ready? GO!

1. Take the lyrics to a favorite song (make sure it's relatively well-known).
2. Go to Google Language Tools and translate the lyrics into German; then from German to French; and finally from French back into English.
3. Post the results verbatim.
4. Invite your friends to guess the song based on the newly mangled lyrics.

*slightly alarmed* My computer sounds like it is making popcorn.

*completely annoyed by neighbours in next block of units* They're running their car for minutes at a time, which is noisy in itself but much worse when it makes your windows rattle. I'm now suspecting that it could be them that wake me early in the morning and not my neighbour taking her VW Beetle to walk on the beach.

Does anybody have any idea how I'd be able to get a copy of the following DVD? I borrowed a video of this version from the library and enjoyed it so much that I'd like a copy. The only idea that I've had is to take the video to a place that will transfer it to DVD, but I doubt they'd copy a commercially available video.

And now for the meme...

Teh rulz: Comment on this entry and get a letter. Write ten words beginning with that letter, including an explanation what the word means to you and why. [livejournal.com profile] mariavii kindly assigned the letter A.

Antipodes - I am a citizen of the Antipodes. I live in Australia and my dad is from New Zealand, so I guess I have a cultural affinity to both.

Afternoon - to me this means getting home and relaxing (except when I'm doing an evening shift).

Acute - am currently working in emergency, which is the embodiment of acute medicine.

Apple - the only fruit I would eat on an everyday basis, at least when Pink Lady is in season.

Art - I could stare at it for hours. When both the NGV and I were "living" on Russell St it was something I would do on my afternoons off.

Antiques - something a little out of my reach. I would love to buy some, but can't afford it yet.

Austen, Jane - one of my favourite authors.

Attitude - since one of my passions is ballet, I couldn't resist putting that in. Arabesque sounds nicer, but I quite like the look of an attitude. (link to American Ballet Theatre dictionary's defintion)

Arnotts - a brand of biscuits that I really enjoyed until they went offshore and my mum stopped buying them. Now that I'm working I do occasionally buy them.

Album - this could mean three things to me. First music, which I like and don't buy. Second stamps, of which I have a great many to sort through. And last but not least a pictorial representation of one's life.

Not sure whether anybody has posted this, but it seemed appropriate considering that most of us have recently read the new HP.

The fuss about FF in the TR has me wondering:

What story (whether book, movie or fanfic) do you find squickiest and why? )

They decided on Friday that I could do next semester and then do a supplementary exam.

Casting Call

I think it's inevitable that as we read each other's journals we create mental pictures of each other. Post this on your own journal to find out who your friends see when they read about your life.

Two Rules:
1. The person must be in the movies or on TV (but doesn't have to be an actor/actress). The person can be specific to a role (e.g. Jennifer Elhe's Elizabeth Bennet) or just the person themself.
2. You have to post a link to a picture of said person in the comments.

These castings can be based on things in the person's personality or on physical traits you know they have.

I'm sure that there was something else that I was going to mention, but since it's not springing to mind at the moment it'll have to wait until later.

From [livejournal.com profile] mariavii, the Haiku meme. Is it any surprise that the first two are about ballet?

The new form of torture: play tapes from lectures loud enough for the person next door to hear. That's what my neighbour is currently doing. It's sending me up the wall. If I'd wanted to listen to listen to some guy talk about circuits/physics/whatever it is, I would have done a science degree instead.

I've been having a look around and I don't think anybody has posted this yet:

Real Hobbits

I wasn't sure whether you'd find it interesting or not.

And whilst I was looking around I did the following memes from [livejournal.com profile] mariavii and [livejournal.com profile] wendybarron.

I should actually be ringing a doctor I know to see about doing ward rounds on weekends, etc, but I don't really know what to say. Whenever I make a phone call I have to think of what I've got to say first, otherwise I feel kind of stupid and avoidant.

Will probably actually go up Sydney Rd for a while because I want to look at fabric in Spotlight and have realised that I still have a K-mart gift card from my nana to use.
